Could Pablo Prigioni return to the Knicks as a coach?

Former Knicks point guard Pablo Prigioni could be headed back to the Garden in an assistant coaching role. The Knicks are one of a few teams interested in the Argentine point guard after he worked as a coach supervising scrimmages at the NBA Draft Combine last week, according to Gigantes de Basket, a Spanish basketball site.

However, Prigioni, 40, also may be up for a head coaching job with the Spanish club Baskonia, which made the Euroleague quarterfinals this season before being knocked out by CSKA Moscow. Prigioni played three games for Baskonia this season in the Euroleague, but averaged just 8.7 minutes per game off the bench.

Prigioni was with the Knicks for two-and-a-half seasons, and his unrelenting defensive effort made him a fan favorite. He averaged 3.9 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 16.9 minutes in a reserve role during his time with the Knicks.

He was traded to the Houston Rockets for Alexey Shved and two second-round picks before the 2015 trade deadline. After spending the 2015-16 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, Prigioni signed back with the Rockets, but was waived in October.
