Speaking on the video captioned ‘Today I took my First Drive since my recent visit to Shuntsville’, Hammond said: ‘This is beautiful. Thank you doctors, thank you.

‘I shouldn’t even be sharing this moment, it feels too personal right now. I mean I’m dressed but I feel like I’m not.

‘This is where I’ve been all this time, in my head. I can go anywhere,’ he added.

In reference to the car crash, Hammond said: ‘Wales is over there, it’s got mountains on it, there’s a ghost I need to exorcise. I’m going there.’

It’s the second crash he faced while filming for a TV series, with Hammond having previously suffered a crash with the Top Gear team in 2006 while filming a driving stunt.

He isn’t the only Grand Tour presenter suffering either, with Jeremy Clarkson being diagnosed with pneumonia after being rushed to hospital in Majorca.
