Three dead after school shooting in California

Three people are dead following a shooting at a school in rural Northern California, say authorities.

A six-year-old child and other kids are among the wounded following the incident near an elementary school in Rancho Tehama.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am local time.

A spokesperson for the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said: ‘We had multiple shots fired. That evolved to multiple victims and multiple victims at the elementary school. I am told the suspected shooter is deceased by law enforcement bullets.

‘I know there are at least three deaths.’

He added that there are around 100 officers spread over multiple scenes in the area.
