Married At First Sight fans were left heartbroken last week when Jack and Verity revealed they had split three months after the show wrapped.
And now, Jack has spoken out on the reasons behind the shock divorce, admitting he felt something was missing in his marriage.
Jack, 26, was matched with Verity, 28, by experts, only meeting for the first time on their wedding day, but while sparks seemed to be flying during filming for the Channel 4 show, an update at the end of the finale episode revealed they had decided to split.
Split: Married At First Sight star Jack has revealed he ‘had no choice’ but to break up with his wife Verity as the couple lacked chemistry
Speaking to the new issue of Closer Magazine, Jack insisted he is still good friends with Verity, but he felt the chemistry was missing from their relationship.
‘We got on well, and Verity always made me laugh, but there was just something missing, It was a decision I came to gradually and, in the end, I felt I had no choice but to let her go,’ he explained.
Jack confessed the couple’s personalities were the perfect match, but the problems lay on the physical side.

‘On paper we were a great match, But, unfortunately, chemistry is something that nobody can predict,’ he added.
Jack also revealed why he was so keen to stick to his no sex rule during filming for the show, explaining he wanted to get to know his wife first before jumping into bed.
‘I’ve had a lot of stick for my no-sex rule – there’s this assumption that it was because I didn’t find Verity attractive, especially when I told my friends that I fancied her personality. I think Verity is a very good looking girl,’ he said.

Viewers blasted father Mark, who later made a grovelling apology on Twitter, after he revealed he hoped Jack’s wife was ‘slim, athletic and well-spoken’.
Jack insisted to Closer that his father ‘loved’ Verity and is ‘one of the nicest guys,’ and he was simply trying to say that his bride wasn’t his son’s usual type.
After hitting it off from the beginning, Jack and Verity seemed to be setting the stage for a long and happy future together, and despite failing to consummate their marriage, Jack admitted in the final episode that they had ‘pleasured each other.’
Still friends: ‘On paper we were a great match, But, unfortunately, chemistry is something that nobody can predict,’ Jack explained
In their final meeting at Islington Town Hall, the couple did reveal they were going to stay married, and strolled into the sunset hand-in-hand.
But it was sadly not to be, as a flash-forward revealed that Jack dumped Verity three months later.
Explaining his decision, Jack admitted there was simple a lack of connection between him and Verity, but hoped they could move forward and stay friends.
Verity also shared her devastation with pals following the split, but insisted she did not regret taking part in the experiment.

One tweeted: ‘I was so excited then instantly let down,’ while another added: ‘Right. That’s it. Love doesn’t exist. I’m staying single forever.’
A third also posted: ‘Nooo poor Verity I was totally invested in those two,’ with a fourth posting: ‘Love is dead. Such a shame!’
No hope: One fan even proclaimed that ‘love was dead,’ after the much loved pairing failed to see a future together
Fans had hoped that Jack and Verity would be the first couple to remain together following the experiment, but were sadly left disappointed.
It remains to be seen whether the show will ever find a pair who are the perfect match.
However it seems the show will continue to seek out couples willing to try the experiment, as a title card at the series’ end said applications were open.

The doomed marriages of the Married At First Sight couples
Emma and James
Emma Rathbone and James Ord-Hume initially seemed to be a success story from the first series of the show, announcing they were staying married in the finale. But after 34 weeks of marriage, James and Emma decided to call it a day with James telling his wife: ‘I wasn’t in love with her and I felt we needed to draw a line under things.’

Sam and Jack
Sam McDonald and Jack Finn-Kelcey never actually made it down the aisle, with the bride-to-be calling off the wedding due to pressure from her family. The couple though did go on to meet after filming and started a real-life romance, only for that to end after four months.
Kate and Jason
Kate Stewart and Jason Knowles’ marriage seemed doomed from the start with the groom caught on Tinder just days after their nuptials. Jason later insisted this was because the relationship was already over before it began, with court paperwork showing that Kate wanted the marriage annulled on the grounds that Jason had ‘wilfully’ refused to consummate it. Jason has since remarried.
Lucie and Steve
Lucie and Steve’s romance got off to a rocky start with their awkward first conversations limited to Game Of Thrones. They persevered for six weeks though and despite their divorce have remained friends.
Like Lucie and Steve, Sara and Adam decided to stay married
Sara and Adam
Like Lucie and Steve, Sara and Adam decided to stay married at the conclusion of series two, despite their very fiery relationship, as evidenced by the infamous moment the groom overindulged on wine on the honeymoon. Just one month after the show ended, the couple revealed they were getting divorced.
Caroline and Adam
Caroline and Adam went the distance, compared to other couples on the show after viewers gushed about their instant chemistry on their wedding day. But five months after the show concluded it was revealed the couple had secretly split, with Caroline putting her Vera Wang gown up for sale on eBay.
Melissa and Clark
It looked like things were on the right track for Melissa and Clark who seemed besotted with each other during the show. Clark even made a big move, swapping his London life to live with his wife in Milton Keynes. But five months after the show the MAF curse had hit once more and divorce loomed.
Harriet and Richard
Harriet and Richard attempted to give their marriage a go, despite both admitting to a lack of chemistry. But while viewers praised Richard’s efforts, including organising date nights and cooking for his wife, it was not to be as they sought a divorce in the finale. Harriet tearfully admitted she couldn’t ‘force’ herself to love Richard.
Carrie and Wayne
Like Sam and Jack in series one, Carrie and Wayne never made it up the aisle. Despite initial excitement the groom called off the nuptials, making the shock announcement at a meeting to organise the marriage licence.
Series three couple Ben and Stephanie divorced in acrimonious circumstances
Stephanie and Ben
Series three couple Ben and Stephanie divorced in acrimonious circumstances last year, after Ben made the shock announcement they had split during a radio interview. While the couple decided to stay married in the finale of the show, ultimately their relationship only lasted another few weeks when the cameras stopped filming. The property developer insisted he talked to Stephanie about seeking a divorce, despite claims from her friends that the heartbroken police officer only found out her husband wanted to split when he announced the news on FUBAR Radio, with Steph reading the news on MailOnline the next day.
