JLS star Oritse Williams’ rape accuser says she ‘lay like a dead body’ and ‘sobbed’

A woman who claims she was raped by former JLS star Oritse Williams sobbed in court as she denied having consensual sex with him.

The alleged victim told police she was attacked by the 32-year-old in his hotel room after watching him perform in a nightclub.

Jurors were told staff saw the “zombified” woman entering the Ramada Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton shortly before the rape.

Giving evidence today, she broke down when Williams’s barrister suggested the sex had been consensual.

Mark Cotter QC also said the encounter ended in “embarrassment” because the singer was “unable to perform sexually”.

The woman denied coming up with the rape allegation after speaking to a friend who was also at the hotel.

Williams’s tour manager Jamien Nagadhana is also accused of assaulting the woman during the incident in December 2016.

The victim, who is in her 20s, told police she was left feeling “pathetic” and “worthless” after the duo allegedly carried out the attack.

She met Williams when he invited her and two friends into the VIP area at the Gorgeous nightclub after his solo performance.

Jurors were shown CCTV footage of the group downing shots and slapping each other’s bottoms in the club.

The woman admitted kissing him and one of her female friends in the venue and dancing with him.

They then returned to Williams’s hotel but one of the women left after vomiting in the taxi, jurors heard.

Prosecutors claim the woman and her other friend spent time in Williams’s room but left after he demanded sex.

The victim was attacked when she returned by herself to retrieve her belongings which she had left behind, it is claimed.

But in her cross examination, Mr Cotter QC said: “You went back to that room to have sex with Mr Williams.

“You said you wanted to have sex with him and then consensual sex occurred with him on the double bed.”

The woman, who gave evidence behind a screen at Wolverhampton crown court,
replied: “No.”

Responding to her claims the rape ended when she asked to see her friend, Mr Cotter said: “I suggest that’s not true.

“He was unable to perform sexually and that’s how it came to an end. It was all rather embarrassing, wasn’t it?”

She replied: “It is true.”

Mr Cotter added: “What happened in that room was consensual. You agreed to it.”

The woman said: “No.”

In a taped police interview the woman said Williams picked her up and “pushed” her onto the double bed before raping her.

“In the blink of an eye my pants were off,” she said. “Looking back on it I was not as fighty as I should have been.

“The whole time I was telling him to get off me, ‘f*** off’, but he was not having it.

“He was making gross remarks about my body. I was crying, I could not comprehend it any more.

“It was horrible, not feeling like you have any self control in your body. It was really bad.

“He wasn’t aggressive, he was just not listening to me. I lay like a dead body for a bit. I just wanted it to be over.

“I did not want to squirm and fight my way out of it any more. But then I thought, ‘I’m not having this’, and started fighting harder.

“I was quite scared but not terrified. I felt more pathetic and weak. It kills your confidence. It kills everything. I felt worthless.”

The woman described Nagadhana, of Hounslow, west London, as Williams’s “really weird friend”.

She told detectives the 32-year-old sexually assaulted her while she was being raped by the ex-JLS star.

Williams, of Croydon, south London, denies rape.

Nagadhana denies sexual assault and assault by penetration.

The trial continues.
