Emmerdale star Adam Thomas hospitalised after dropping a 50kg weight on his face

Former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas was hospitalised yesterday after dropping a 50kg weight on his face.

The 30-year-old star branded himself an ‘idiot’ for injuring himself during a particularly vigorous gym session, and needed emergency treatment on a wound perilously close to his eye.

“Not sure that everyone knows yet but today I dropped a weight on my face!!” he told his Instagram followers, sharing a shot of himself from his hospital bed.

“And then 3hrs in a&e with this guy. Don’t know which one was worse haha but am glad he was there by my side x,” he joked in reference to his friend.

Injecting some humour into the situation, the father-of-one continued, “If you too have dropped a weight on your face please get in touch as it’s hard to talk to anyone about my experience unless you’ve actually been through it.

“I know your out there and I know your ashamed but it’s about time we spoke out and let others know that if your an idiot… gyms are dangerous places.”

Keeping up the banter, the hospital-gown clad star – who quit Emmerdale last year – then mocked his unemployed status.

“Feeling really sorry for myself don’t think I’ll be able to work for a week… good job I don’t have a job,” he quipped.

And his brother Ryan – who previously starred in Coronation Street – also saw the funny side, admitting, “I love you so much Adam to be fair something I would do.”

Last night Adam gave fans an update, revealing he was back home with his family.

Sharing a shot of himself with wife Caroline and their daughter Teddy, a small white plaster could be seen beneath his eye.
