Bill Clinton makes guest appearance as umpire at celebrity softball game and smiles for selfies

Bill Clinton was pictured smiling as he joined celebrities for a game of softball on the Hamptons on Saturday.

The 42nd president joined in the 71st East Hampton Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game, a tradition he has taken part in since he was the governor of Arkansas 31 one years ago.

But the crowd at Herrick Park was surprised to see Clinton at the event where he took to the field before first pitch and spoke fondly about his memories of the gathering, then even served as umpire for some of the 3pm game.

He called balls and strikes for two innings then disappeared. Clinton made no mention of Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide a week ago – or Donald Trump‘s claim that he had visited the financier’s private island.

Conspiracy theories have swirled that the pedophile was murdered to cover the involvement powerful figures in his sex trafficking crimes.

Epstein moved in rarefied circles that included Clinton, Trump and Britain’s Prince Andrew.

On Tuesday, DailyMailTV revealed that the disgraced financier Epstein owned a bizarre portrait of Clinton wearing a dress hanging inside his Manhattan mansion.

The painting, by Australian-American artist Petrina Ryan-Kleid, shows Clinton in a blue robe – one similar to the one that Monica Lewinsky wore during an infamous tryst with the then-Commander-in-chief inside the Oval Office.

The color of the garment seemed to be a pointed reference to the one-time White House intern, who wore a navy Gap dress during one of her encounters with Clinton. The frock had been stained with semen, which was revealed to have come from the Clinton.

Meanwhile, the blue dress in the painting is also strikingly similar to one worn by Hillary Clinton at the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors.

The original painting is called ‘Parsing Bill’, although it is unclear if Epstein had bought the canvas or had a print mounted.

Ryan-Kleid exhibited for her degree show when she graduated with an MFA in 2012 from the New York Academy of Art.

The painting was secretly snapped inside Epstein’s lavish $56 million home in October 2012, four years after he completed his sweetheart deal for prostitution of a minor and seven years before he was accused of running a sex trafficking ring of underage girls.

Epstein and Clinton were once friends, with the former president flying on the now deceased financier’s private plane, dubbed the Lolita Express, several times.

He had also admitted to visiting Epstein’s townhouse on one occasion – making it possible he could have seen the bizarre painting.

Clinton has however denied being on Epstein’s ‘pedophile island,’ Little St. James – a denial which Donald Trump sought to cast doubt on this week.

The presence of the picture is a new twist in the relationship between Clinton, his family and Epstein.

Last month, the former president’s office said he had not known anything of Epstein’s crimes and had taken four trips with him in 2002 and 2003 – although flight logs showed that he had taken a total of at least 26 individual flights in the course of those.

One of Epstein’s former sex slaves, Virginia Roberts, claimed she saw Clinton on the island for a dinner held in his honor shortly after he left office, and stood by the claim when questioned under oath.

After Epstein’s suicide on Saturday morning, Trump retweeted a suggestion that the Clintons were somehow involved in the death and a link to court documents setting out Roberts’ evidence.

Additionally, Epstein’s alleged procurer, Ghislaine Maxwell, was a guest at Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to Marc Meezvinsky, at least a year after the time when Bill Clinton says his friendship with Epstein ended.
