Boxing results RECAP: Dillian Whyte survives knockdown, Chisora and Price also win | Boxing | Sport

Dillian Whyte secured mandatory status for the WBC world heavyweight title with an impressive win over Oscar Rivas at the O2.

The Brixton fighter was the heavy favourite going into the bout and boxed well throughout.

In round nine, however, he endured one of the biggest scares of his professional career as he was sent crashing to the canvas by Rivas.

After being caught with a flush shot to the chin, Whyte collapsed into the corner and appeared dazed as he took to his feet.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ survived and showed his experience to keep Rivas at way.

Columbian Rivas kept pushing forward but was unsuccessful with his attempts to bother Whyte again.

The home town hero was able to box his way to a unanimous decision win, and will now go on to face the winner of Deontay Wilder’s rematch with Tyson Fury – presuming both fighters win their interim bouts later this year.

Whyte is likely to have a warm-up fight later this year in preparation to fight for the world title.

Alen Babic BEAT Morgan Dessaux – KO Round 1

Fabio Wardley BEAT Mariano Diaz Strunz – TKO Round 6

Dan Azeez BEAT Charlie Duffield – TKO Round 6

Azeez dominates the whole fight with Duffield’s eye swollen. And the corner throw the towel in with seconds of the sixth remaining.

Lawrence Okolie BEAT Mariano Gudino – TKO Round 7

Comfortable, if somewhat scrappy, win for Okolie. Gudino didn’t appear too keen to be in there with Okolie knocking him down in the third, fifth and seventh. The referee steps in at the end of the seventh!

Dalton Smith BEAT Ibrar Riyaz – TKO Round 2

Impressive from Smith in just his second fight. Riyaz’s corner pull their man out at the end of the second.

Richard Riakporhe BEAT Chris Billam-Smith – SD 93-96 97-92 95-94

That took a while to get going but then exploded into life with Billam-Smith down in the seventh. It goes into a final round though. They both raise their gloves at the final bell but Riakporhe gets it!

Dereck Chisora BEAT Artur Szpilka – KO Round 2

WOW! What a finish from Chisora, who was in a rush to get out of there. He sends Szpilka to the floor with some heavy shots and the referee calls it off straight away. More on that knockout HERE.

David Price BEAT Dave Allen – RET Round 10

Not the explosive fight that many were expecting with Price the more dominant fighter in the early stages. And Dave Allen’s corner pulls their man out at the end of the tenth! Big win for Price.

Dillian Whyte BEAT Oscar Rivas – UD

Whyte survives a worrying knockdown to secure mandatory status for the WBC world heavyweight title.
