His comments are… indifferent
Noel Gallagher has given his thoughts on the new Arctic Monkeys album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
Released on Friday (May 11), it’s the band’s sixth full-length release and is currently outselling the rest of the top 20 combined.
Appearing on Radio X, Noel Gallagher was asked about his thoughts on the new album. “Do you know what? I’ve just been listening to it in the car today on the way here… And I don’t know what to make of it,” he replied.
Host Gordon Smart then chatted about Gallagher’s “experimental” last album but said experimental is “not really what you expect from the Arctic Monkeys.”
“No, you’d expect a few choruses. [It] hasn’t got any of them,” Gallagher replied. You can watch the interaction below.
Yesterday (May 14), the band released the first video from the album. In the ‘Four Out Of Five’ video, frontman Alex Turner walks through the twisting corridors of a stately home and what looks like a tube station.
Arctic Monkeys have already begun touring the record, with a series of shows in America already done. They will play material from the album in the UK for the first time at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival in July. They’ll then embark on a series of headline dates throughout the UK in September – remaining tickets are available for purchase here.
