MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis’ parents ‘threaten to cut her off financially’ as she shops in Kmart

The long-suffering parents of Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis are threatening to cut her off financially, Angle News Australia can reveal.

Martha, 30, has been unemployed since she started filming MAFS last September,  and has been relying on her family for cash hand-outs for eight months.

The former makeup artist was seemingly feeling the effects of her financial woes on Friday, when she was spotted buying discount lingerie at a Kmart in Sydney.

Martha was seen browsing through the underwear aisle before purchasing several pairs of knickers.

The shopping trip will no doubt amuse MAFS fans, who have previously branded her a ‘Kmart Kardashian’ due to her resemblance to reality star Kim.

She also visited Louis Vuitton, Prada and Chanel stores during her outing, but notably left those boutiques empty handed.

Possibly due to her limited funds, Martha appeared downcast as she hit the shops.

After filming for MAFS wrapped in January, Martha was forced to give up her Bondi apartment and move back in with her parents in Melbourne.

‘Martha’s parents helped her out at the start when everything was a bit of a whirlwind but they’re getting tired of it now,’ a source told Angle News Australia.

‘Her parents would never see her out on the streets, but it’s time for her to make some money of her own again and stop asking for hand-outs.’

Martha raised eyebrows on MAFS for boasting of her dependency on her parents.

‘Somehow [money] manages to just finds its way into my account!’ she once said during a group dinner party.

Earlier in the season, she famously claimed that her family live in a Versace-inspired ‘mansion’ in Melbourne.

In April, Martha confessed that her public profile had made it difficult for her to return to work as a freelance makeup artist.

‘Right now, I don’t want to be turning up to people’s houses. I just don’t feel safe at the moment and I don’t know who I can trust,’ she told Kyle and Jackie O.

‘I did ask to go back to my old job, which was at a retailer, but [I’m] too much of a liability for them as well. I’m just in a hard spot at the moment.’
