A man is in a serious condition after an industrial machine he was working on chopped off both of his hands.
Paramedics were called to a workplace just before 8am on Monday with reports the 40-year-old’s hands and arms had been dragged into an industrial machine at Ballandean, near the Queensland-NSW border.
He suffered extensive blood loss during the ordeal.
An anaethetist and two nurses from Stanthorpe Hospital accompanied paramedics to the scene, where they helped the victim and treated bystanders for shock.
He was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital with significant injuries and burns.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating the matter.
