A promising young student studying neuroscience at university has admitted to trying to smuggle over 100 MDMA capsules into a Sydney dance festival in her underwear.
Tracey Nguyen, 20, pleaded guilty to trying to bring the 114 capsules, held in a yellow condom, into the Defqon. 1 festival in September last year.
The court heard she had texted a friend ‘Gurl… I’m so scared’ before she was caught and had become nervous and erratic after a police sniffer dog focused on her at the gates to the event.

Nguyen was strip searched and placed under arrest, telling authorities ‘I’m innocent, I didn’t do anything,’ according to The Daily Telegraph.
However, in subsequent police interviews she said the capsules contained ‘M,’ a street name for MDMA, and that she found them in a park.
Police say that messages found on her phone included one she sent which read, ‘Gurl would u be able to get off someone else inside. I’m alrdy brining 12.34g. Im soo scared coz its my first time for dq. But ive done a few indoor before. And everyone says dq has 30 dogs. And 100 polices.’
They say the contact wrote back: ‘I don’t know if he has more that’s the thing. There’s like 2-3 dogs max. But yes there’s heaps of cops.’
The event has become notorious after two attendees of the festival died after ingesting substances.
Daily Mail does not suggest Ms Nguyen’s smuggling was in any way connected to the fatalities.
