Artist Charles Blackman dies in Sydney aged 90

Celebrated Australian painter Charles Blackman, best known for his Alice in Wonderland series of paintings, has died in Sydney at the age of 90.

Revered as one of the heroes of Australian art, Blackman was a member of a group of Melbourne painters known as the Antipodeans, which also included Arthur Boyd, Robert Dickerson and Clifton Pugh.

Blackman died this morning, a week after celebrating his 90th birthday.
