Man charged over Murrumba Downs stabbing murder after hours long stand-off

After a four-hour stand-off with police, a 39-year-old man has been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a man in Brisbane.

The stand-off ended just after midnight when officers stormed a hotel room at Carseldine in the city’s north and took Lee Matthew Hillier into custody.

Detective Acting Superintendent Anthony Green said Mr Hillier suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

“The man was confrontational, that wasn’t unexpected, and that’s why we used the resources of our specialist police to help resolve that incident,” he said.

Mr Hillier has been charged with the stabbing death of 41-year-old Nathan Frazer who was found on a suburban road in Murrumba Downs north of Brisbane on Thursday morning.

“We would like to thank the community for their response to this and also the media for actually broadcasting this information which has been able to lead us to find this person,” Acting Superintendent Green said.

He is due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning with more charges likely.
