An American F-15 fighter jet has crashed into the sea off the island of Okinawa in southern Japan, according to local media reports.
The crash occurred around 6.40am local time on Monday about 50 miles off the coastal city of Naha, and the pilot was rescued after ejecting, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.
It is unclear whether the pilot was injured during the ejection or rescue.

The jet was reportedly flying out of the US military facility of Kadena Air Base in Okinawa.
A Japanese Self Defense Force helicopter participated in the rescue effort.
Japanese Coast Guard vessels are also said to be responding on the scene.
The incident comes as President Donald Trump travels in East Asia for a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.
