Thursday’s marathon 10-hour hearing for FBI agent Peter Strzok was so controversial it was labelled ‘a new low in the United States Congress’.
And as lawmakers hurled slurs at each other and at the agent, a man sitting just behind Strzok couldn’t keep a straight face.
The man, who has not been identified, was seen raising his eyebrows, appearing enthralled by the scandal as Texas Republican Rep. Louis Gohmert launched into a rant about the agent’s infidelity.
Strzok was caught having an affair with former agent Lisa Page, and text messages between them revealed a strong anti-Trump sentiment. Both agents had been working on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe at the time.
Peter Strzok’s congressional hearing on Thursday was explosive, with slurs hurled all around the room during the 10-hour meeting
Gohmert tried to use the agent’s infidelity as a way to imply he regularly lied and may have been lying under oath.
‘I can’t help but wonder when I see you looking there with a little smirk, how many times did you look so innocent in to your wife’s eyes and lie to her about Lisa Page,’ he asked.

‘Shame on you,’ one lawmaker shouted. ‘This is intolerable harassment of the witness,’ said another. ‘Do you need your medication?’ asked a third.
One man, sitting behind the FBI agent, was clearly unprepared for the outrageous allegations, and was seen making a number of dramatic faces at the remarks

As the shouts continue, the man appears to be pursing his lips, but after a woman is heard yelling out and asking Gohmert if he needed his medication, the man appears to lose his composure.
Another smirk comes across his face, but he appears to be doing all he can to suppress an audible laugh.
Just hours after Strzok’s outrageous hearing, Lisa Page was questioned behind closed doors.
And while he was slammed publicly for 10 hours, prompting passionate and fiery replies in return, Page’s hearing appeared to have gone much more smoothly.
Even members of congress appear to have preferred Page’s hearing, with Republican Representative Mark Meadows telling CNN she was a ‘very credible witness’.
While her former lover’s hearing was a disaster, Lisa Page walked out of hers on Friday smiling
Page was granted a private hearing about text messages she and Strzok exchanged, whereas he was not
