Christopher Watts, 33, sent the tender text two months before his arrest this week
The tragic text messages that a husband sent to his pregnant wife just months before he was accused of murdering her and their two daughters have been revealed.
Christopher Watts, 33, sent the messages to wife Shanann Watts, 34, on June 19, when she sent him an ultrasound showing the progress of her third pregnancy.
‘Little Peanut!! Love her/him already!!!’ Christopher wrote in response to the ultrasound image.
Shanann shared the exchange on Facebook later the same day, writing: ‘I love Chris! He’s the best dad us girls could ask for.’
On Thursday, police said they had found the bodies of Shanann and her daughters, three-year-old Celeste and four-year-old Bella, in a Colorado oil field where Watts worked.
Shanann Watts shared the above exchange on Facebook on June 19. Her husband was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murdering her and their two daughters
Christopher was arrested on suspicion of the murders late Wednesday, though he has yet to be formally charged.
The husband claimed for days that his wife and daughters were missing, even going on television with an emotional appeal for their return.
‘In my heart, I believe that she is somewhere and I hope that she is safe,’ he told Fox31 on Tuesday afternoon. ‘I don’t know what to do right now. I just feel so alone in this house right now. I don’t know where to to from here.’
Shanann went missing on Monday after returning from a business trip to Arizona at around 1am, Christopher said. She promotes a weight loss supplement for a living and travels the country to attend sales conferences.
Christopher and Shanann are seen with their two daughters. Police say that he confessed to the murders and tried to hide the bodies in the oil field where he worked
The children spent the weekend at home with their father while their mother was away working, police said.
Watts said the last time he saw his wife was at 5.15am on Monday when he left for work. He said that they had stayed up having an ’emotional conversation’ between her arrival at 1am and his departure for work.
He said he became worried when she did not reply to his text messages later in the morning. Watts said he became panicked when a friend arrived at the home at noon and there was no answer.
Shanann was 15 weeks pregnant. Her family revealed on Thursday that she was carrying a baby boy who was to be named Nico.
Christopher Watts is being held without bail in the Weld County Jail. He is next due in court on Tuesday.
While formal charges have not yet been filed, he faces three counts of murder, and three counts of tampering with evidence.
