The children told authorities that Cheeks claimed there wasn’t enough room for them to sit safely in a seat.
The kids also complained they were hot during the drive, while being kept in the confined space in the trunk, according to WREG.
They said Cheeks didn’t have air conditioning on and kept the windows closed.
Temperatures were in the mid-90’s Saturday in the city.
Neighbors of Cheeks expressed their shock after learning about the incident.
Skylark Blake told the local news outlet that the woman is ‘a nice lady’ and he ‘can’t see her doing that.’
Other residents called the grandmother, who cares for two puppies, a woman of strong faith.
Further investigation is currently underway.
