Famous Greek composer Yanni has gone on the record in the ‘Yanny vs Laurel’ debate, unsurprisingly picking his own name.
An audio clip went viral this week with millions of people furiously debating whether the voice on the recording was saying ‘Yanny’ or ‘Laurel’.
On Wednesday evening Yanni, 63, weighed in on the clip that has the internet split pretty much in half.

In the video the music legend listens to the audio clip and definitively announces that he hear ‘Yanny’. Overall the internet is split 50/50, with half of people saying they hear ‘Laurel’
Yanni had tweeted about the controversial clip on Tuesday saying: ‘I only head Yanni 😉 hahaha’
In a video posted to Twitter he listens to the audio and says: ‘Yanni’.
However, he pronounced it the way he says his own name, ‘yah-knee’, while the recording sound like ‘yeah-knee’.
Yanni, whose real name is Yiannis Chryssomallis, is famed composer, keyboardist, pianist and music producer.
The two-time Grammy nominated icon has spent his adult life living in the US.
Yanni is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of his breakthrough performance at the Acropolis in Athens in 1993.

The audio clip featuring a computerized man’s voice was originally posted on Reddit by high school student Roland Camry.
It’s been described as an auditory illusion on par with the debate over The Dress back in February 2015.
Most people claim they quite clearly hear one of the two words, and can’t imagine how anyone could possibly hear the other.
It’s even divided the Hollywood community, with stars like Chrissy Teigen on Team Laurel and Mindy Kaling on Team Yanny.
Experts have offered several different explanations for what causes the differentiation including age of the listener and the type of speaker that’s used.
